REPUBLIC DAY 2021

Republic Day is celebrated on January 26 every year to remember the day when the Constitution of India came into effect after India gained independence after a very long freedom struggle. A salute of 21 guns and the unfurling of the Indian National Flag by Dr. Rajendra Prasad heralded the historic birth of the Indian Republic on that day. Thereafter 26th of January was decreed a national holiday and was recognised as the Republic Day of India. Ever since the historic day, January 26 is celebrated with festivities and patriotic fervor all around the country.

The celebrations inaugrate with a grand parade is held in the capital, New Delhi, from Raisina Hill near the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President's House), along the Rajpath, past India Gate and on to the historic Red Fort. The event begins with the Prime Minister of India laying a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate, commemorating all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. Soon, a 21 gun salute is presented, the President unfurls the National Flag and the National Anthem is played. This marks the beginning of a series of magnificent parades by Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, police, and paramilitary forces. All the states of India showcase their culture, uniqueness by building beautiful tableaus.

ABOUT QUIZ


As a part of Republic Day celebration”, an online quiz competition, essay competition and poetry competition on the theme of “Indian Constitution struggle for freedom, warriors of Indian independence” is being organized by the Ministry of Education in association with the Ministry of Defence from 20th January to 30th January 2021.

To celebrate the soul of “Republic day” while adhering to COVID-19 protocols, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India, in association with Ministry of Defence, has organized online Essayand Patriotic Poetry Competition during the period of 20th  January to 30th January, 2021 on MyGov platform.

Themes of Essay and Patriotic Poetry Writing Competition

  1. Indian Constitution & Democracy
  2. Struggle for Independence
  3. Warriors of Indian independence.
  4. True meaning of celebration of Republic day.

Word Limits of Essay for each theme

The essay should be within 1500* word limit.
*The essay should not exceed word limit. This would lead to disqualification.

Word Limits of Patriotic Poetry Writing for each theme

The poem should be within 100* word limit

Mode of submission

  • The participant should submit the write-up in PDF file format only.
  • Visit the website  www.MyGov.in to submit the essay.
  • Write-up text should be submitted in readable Font of Hindi/English.
  • Font size should be 12 for English and 14 for Hindi.
  • Line spacing should be 1.15 only.
  • Entries must be in either in English or Hindi
